Cupro is a biodegradable textile fiber. It is made from short cotton linters that cannot be processed into cotton yarn and would otherwise end up as waste. For a long time, cupro production was banned because it required copper and ammonia. However, the Japanese company Asahi Kasei has optimized cupro production to the extent that large quantities of water and chemicals remain in a closed loop until they are completely exhausted. The chemicals used are then free of toxic or hazardous compounds for health and the environment. Moya Kala's Turkish supplier weaves the fibers from Japan into a fabric characterized by a silky and luxurious feel.
