Suede is the back of leather and has been sanded to give it a soft and supple look. It comes from farms in Rio Grande do Sul and is tanned in Brazil without the use of hazardous or banned chemicals. VEJA uses dyes that comply with current regulations and uses water sparingly during the tanning process. The suede is then coated with water-repellent oils that are free of PFCs (chemical compounds) to protect the shoes from light rain.
