Suede is the reverse side of leather, buffed to create a soft and supple look. It comes from farms in Rio Grande do Sul and is tanned in Brazil without the use of hazardous or prohibited chemicals. VEJA uses dyes that comply with current regulations and a sparing use of water during the tanning process. The suede is then coated with PFC-free (chemical compounds) water-repellent oils to protect the shoes from light rain.
